SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - August 20, 2015 - Virool, the world’s leading video distribution platform for marketers, today announces its plans for an international expansion into the Canadian market with the appointment of Alicia Elliott to the position of Managing Director. Based in Toronto, Elliott will join the global sales leadership team to spearhead the commercial operations of Virool’s programmatic video platform throughout Canada.
Elliott brings more than 17 years of progressive experience in advertising, working for key industry companies that have redefined the programmatic video advertising industry. Joining Virool from AOL Canada, Elliott will lead the sales initiatives as Managing Director of Canada to expand the company’s international presence and drive revenue growth throughout the Canadian market.
“Canadians have an insatiable appetite for online video,” said Brian Danzis, Chief Revenue Officer of Virool. “In fact, among Internet users, digital video viewers in Canada consume more content than any other predominantly English speaking country in the world. In response, brands are accelerating their shift of traditional advertising spend to multi-channel digital video and Virool is well prepared to help them maximize this investment.”
Before joining Virool, Elliott worked at AOL Canada as the Head of Video Sales where she evangelized premium, programmatic and syndication. Prior to her work at AOL Canada, Elliott helped to launch BrightRoll Canada. She has also held key traditional and digital media sales and account manager roles at Postmedia, Transcontinental Media, Rogers Publishing, National Post and Sun Media.
“I am thrilled to be joining the Virool team at this pivotal time in our history,” said Alicia Elliott, Managing Director of Virool Canada. “The video landscape is changing from a destination-based model to one that uses targeted distribution to reach audiences, who in turn, want to engage and share video that resonates with them.”
